Ferrari Race Red: Classic Inheritance from F1 to Modern Times
Since the establishment of Ferrari, its iconic red exterior has been an unforgettable classic. This red color is not only unique in the automotive industry, but also leaves a deep mark on the F1 track. 🏁
In the early days of F1, the colors used by teams were mainly related to their nationality. For example, the US team is usually blue and white, the French team is blue, the German team is white, and the Italian team is red. This color allocation is based on the nationality of the team, not the assembly location of the race car. Even though the Italian team is driving Wuling Hongguang to compete, their decals are still red. 🚗
When Enzo Ferrari led his team into F1, they naturally chose the red decal, which became one of the origins of the race track red (Rosso Corsa). 🔥
In the 1990s, over 80% of Ferrari's original factory paint was Rosso Corsa. By 2015, this proportion had dropped to approximately 45%. Ferrari's gradually launched Tailor Made Program also holds a 10% market share, further reducing the usage of the Rosso Corsa. 🎨
Rosso Corsa is a single-layer paint finish that does not change much in color, whether in sunlight or shadow, without the shimmer of metallic paint. The calipers and interior are usually paired with black (Nero) or red (Rosso), and sometimes blue (Blu) or brown (Cuoio or Beige) as interior leather materials. 🖤
Three pictures show three Ferrari models painted with Rosso Corsa, while the fourth picture shows the painted nameplate and the fifth picture is the color palette. In addition, the use of the Rosso Corsa on other brands of vehicles is also worth mentioning, such as BMW allowing customers to choose to borrow this color from Ferrari, and Porsche also having PTS paint for the Rosso Corsa. 🏎️
It is worth mentioning that although the Rosso Corsa is one of the most classic Ferrari paint jobs, its configuration choices in mainland China are surprisingly uniform. Especially for the F8 released in the past two years, more than half of the models have chosen this color combination with yellow (Giallo) calipers and front lines, and even seat belts are matched in this way. This combination is often jokingly referred to as "McDonald's" or "tomato scrambled eggs". 🍟
